Objective:
In this week’s discussion we will explore the mystery of Yesod (Foundation) which was mentioned a couple of weeks ago, but today we will dive a bit deeper into that. How exactly do we build upon the Sure Foundation?

The Mystery of the Perfect Foundation:
Even the Covenant of Thy People, Yashar-El:
All that YHVH hath spoken, we will do!
Passages to Ponder
3 Moses 27:7
7. And all the people answered together as one and said: All that YHVH hath spoken we will do.
Helaman 2:74-75 [5:12]
2:74a [5:12a]. And now, my sons, remember, remember, that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation,
2:74b [5:12b]. That when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,
2:75 [5:12c]. Yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you, to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build, they cannot fall.
3 Nephi 5:39-43 [11:37-41]
5:39 [11:37]. And again, I say unto you: Ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in no wise receive these things.
5:40 [11:38]. And again, I say unto you: Ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in no wise inherit the kingdom of God.
5:41 [11:39]. Verily, verily, I say unto you that this is my doctrine; and whoso buildeth upon this, buildeth upon my rock; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.
5:42 [11:40]. And whoso shall declare more or less than this and establish it for my doctrine, the same cometh of evil and is not built upon my rock; but he buildeth upon a sandy foundation, and the gates of hell standeth open to receive such when the floods come and the winds beat upon them.
5:43 [11:41]. Therefore, go forth unto this people, and declare the words which I have spoken unto the ends of the earth.
Questions of Knowledge (What it says at the surface)
- What does it say are the two possible foundations you can build upon?
Questions of Wisdom (What it means below the surface)
- What is “All that YHVH hath spoken”? Is it the Law of Moses? Is it More than that?
- YHVH spoke to Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, … and others. Which parts of “All that YHVH Hath spoken” are we still supposed to do?
How about the things the Voice of the Good Shepherd says to you today, are those words part of “All that YHVH hath spoken” - What else could be a greater definition of “Faith in Jesus Christ” than a commitment to do all that he speaks. Is there a better way to be sure you are building upon his Rock?
Questions of Understanding (Likening it to Ourselves)
- Have you ever felt inspired in a thing, and then discovered it was not inspiration, just a whim? If we commit to always do what YHVH directs, how do we distinguish between our own hopes and aspirations, and the words spoken by the Voice of God?
- Are there things in the scriptures that we have received that may not have been spoken by YHVH? And, if we follow them blindly, attributing our actions to YHVH though the “scripture” we are following are the teachings of men, is that the same as doing “All that YHVH hath spoken”?
- Are there any other sources of sandy foundations that you need to be aware of in order to avoid them?
Questions of Mystery (What deeper meaning can be harvested)
- Are you able to lift your eyes to heaven and commit to the covenant of the People of YHVH? “All that YHVH Speaks, We shall do?”
- If not, explore your reasons.
- Do you feel he will ask for more than you are willing to do?
- Do you feel he doesn’t require that you follow his Voice?
- Some other reason?
- Do you feel like you have already made this covenant? Like at baptism, or as part of some other ordinance? If so, it shouldn’t be intimidating to renew it. .. should it?
