A Mormon Kabbalistic Rosary Meditation?

Objective:

In this week’s discussion we will explore the mystery of Keter (the Crown of Elohim). By considering a passage from Zenock.

Beads:

Section 6, the first bead:

“Even the Mystery of the Perfect Love:

The Love of the Creator for the Creation.”

Passages to Ponder

Zenock 12:11-14

11. ¶ And speaking by the Breath that was upon me, I did speak, saying: The Torah does teach us:

12. In knowledge and in wisdom did YHVH create Ha’Elohim, and the Heavens, and the Earth.

13. Wherefore, the first wisdom is this: to know YHVH Elohim, and to know YHVH is to love YHVH, our Elohim, with one heart, and with one soul, and as one wholly.

14. And this wisdom is the perfect love; yea, it is a love that changeth not, but abides with us, for this is how Elohim Shaddai loveth us, His creation.

4 Moses 3:2

2. Thou shalt love YHVH thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy might, and with all thy strength:

Questions of Knowledge (What it says at the surface)

  • What does this passage say was the Creator’s motivation for Creating?

Questions of Wisdom (What it means below the surface)

  • It appears that Zenock has rephrased the concept of “All thy heart” as being “one heart”. Is this a change in meaning, or just a new way to think about it? What effect does it have on how you view those passages? Do you feel it is his intention to reframe that teaching? Or is it a new/different teaching that is similar but distinct?
  • What does the creation (mentioned in verse 12) have to do with us loving the Creator wholly?

Questions of Understanding (Likening it to Ourselves)

  • Have you ever experienced a situation where your knowledge of God and your love of God were intertwined? What were the circumstances, and how were each of those two things changed by the experience?

Questions of Mystery (What deeper meaning can be harvested)

  • If it is true that “to know YHVH is to love YHVH” that implies that the more you know YHVH the more you love Him. In your opinion is it reasonable to say that to love him “wholly” you must also know him “wholly”? And, what would that mean? (don’t guess, ask)
  • When Zenock says that this first wisdom is “the perfect love” is he saying that is the Love of the Creator for us (each creation) or is he saying it is the Love we (each creation) must have for our Creator? Is it both at the same time? (don’t guess, ask)
